GALA Festival has announced an extra date and a second wave of artists performing at this year's event.
After announcing that GALA would be returning to Peckham Rye Park on 31st July & 1st August this year — taking place across two days for the very first time — the team behind the event have announced a third day and a host of new artists slated to perform.
Hyperdub has launched a special edition Sega Megadrive with a compilation of fresh tracks stored on a game cartridge.
Produced in collaboration with game system cloners Analogue, a company that has previously worked with similarly revered imprint Ghostly International, just 1,000 units of the limited edition Megadrive remix, dubbed the Konsolation, are available, only 150 of which will be sold in Europe.
Hyperdub will celebrate their 15th birthday with a party at London's Village Underground later this month.
Featuring a number of core members from the label's roster, the party will see Kode9 playing b2b with a special guest who will remain unannounced until the party. The label has hinted that the guest is a "South London legend" and old friend of the label, and added that the b2b will mark the first time the two have played together in the UK.
A GoFundMe page has been launched by Hyperdub to help label signing Cooly G, after a fire at a self-storage unit in London late last year destroyed most of her and her family's possessions.
The message accompanying the crowdfunding campaign explains that the producer and DJ had put much of her belonging into the storage unit while preparing to move houses.
Kode9 has broadcast his final Rinse FM show, ending a 13-year run on the London station.
The Hyperdub boss began as a host back in 2003, when Rinse was still a pirate station.
Label-affliate Cooly G was the last guest on Kode9's show, which broadcast on 9th October. The Hyperdub boss also paid tribute to the late great footwork pioneer, DJ Rashad, on what would have been his birthday.
