The story of District 8 begins at the now-demolished Tivoli Theatre, where a group of seasoned promoters —  aka District 8 Event Promoters LTD — found a home in 2014. A hotel now stands in place of the 1,000+ capacity venue, where Sunil Sharpe, DVS1, Helena Hauff and many more played alongside local talents Cailín, Aeron XTC, and Mode_1.

Moving over to Jam Park in Swords in September 2019, the District 8 team enjoyed six stellar months of events before the venue closed due to the pandemic. However, the unflappable promoters continue their nomadic journey and are currently securing a suitable space for District 8's next chapter.

Losing your spiritual home is painful for any club, but it also offers a chance for renewed vision. Take the demolition of Tivoli Theatre in 2019, used for District 8 since 2014, which presented the opportunity to seize control of the high-ceilinged main room and rooftop bar/restaurant at Jam Park. Moving here in September, the team have taken no time to make their mark and show what we can expect going forward.

DVS1, CamelPhat, Jeff Mills, Sasha & John Digweed, FJAAK and Mall Grab played the first few months, alongside regulars and ‘unofficial residents’ like Sunil Sharpe and Ejeca.

After its sad closure in early 2019, you get the feeling the story doesn’t end here for District 8. Rarely a weekend would pass without a world-class DJ taking to Twitter, professing their excitement at their upcoming D8 show and for good reason. Blending top-of-the-range sound with a knowledgeable and passionate crowd, D8 quietly grew a reputation as one of Europe’s finest party spots, with line-ups including Charlotte de Witte, Jeff Mills, Todd Terje and DJ EZ in 2018 alone. The crew behind the venue vowed to party on, so we’ll be waiting impatiently to find out what the D8 team have in store for 2019.
