Richie Hawtin has released a new A/V album.
Following the announcement of his interactive app, CLOSER, which allows fans a chance to see his CLOSE live show up-close and deconstruct it, the British-Canadian DJ has shared the next step in his CLOSE live series, ‘CLOSE COMBINED (GLASGOW, LONDON, TOKYO - LIVE).
Surprise! Richie Hawtin has just dropped a brand new album under various aliases of his - Plastikman, FUSE and Robotman.
The producer recently revealed that he was in fact behind the anonymous Plus 8 releases that have recently appeared on the Hard Wax website, and today has announced a back-to-basics LP which arrives just in time for the label’s 25th anniversary.
Plus 8 have released a new 12” from an anonymous artist.
The label, founded by Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva, have been tight-lipped about the identity of the record’s producer. According to RA, Hawtin’s management “weren’t aware of the release” despite the record bearing some similarity to his work as Plastikman.
The mysterious 12”, titled ‘Plus 8 25/1’, is the first vinyl release to come out on the label since 2012. Last year, Plus 8 issued a digital single by testpilot (which was later revealed to be an alias of deadmau5).
