BBC Radio 1 has announced the next wave of artists holding six-month residencies.
With last year’s residents including Charlotte de Witte, Marcel Dettmann and Nastia, BBC Radio 1 has announced that DJ Mag Best of British 2019 winners Sherelle, Paul Woolford, Denis Sulta, and Saoirse, will be re-joining the acclaimed residency slot for 2020.
A memorial party for the late footwork pioneer, DJ Rashad, who passed away in 2014 aged 34, will take place later this year.
The party will take place at the Jazz Cafe on the 1st May, with fellow Chicago footwork pioneer and Teklife co-founder, DJ Spinn, heading to London for the event.
Hyperdub label boss Kode9 will also perform at the event, alongside London-based DJ and purveyor of footwork and jungle, Sherelle.
SHERELLE and Naina will launch their Hooversound label with an EP from Hyroglifics & Sinistarr.
Best Of British Breakthrough DJ winner SHERELLE and Beats 1 presenter Naina shared the news of Hooversound in 2019, and now present the label's first release: 'BS6'.
Sheffield clubbing institution Hope Works has announced the residents it has in store for 2020.
Joining the residency programme for the first time are SHERELLE, who won Best Breakthrough DJ at our 2019 DJ Mag Best of British Awards, India Jordan, and queer party Babycakes co-founder Diessa.
They join three of Hope Works' 2019 residents who are being invited back: Rian Treanor, Ifeoluwa and 96 Back.
DJ Mag’s Best of British awards 2019 has been, as ever, a fine celebration, and representation, of the homegrown talent in UK dance music.
Eli Brown has been announced to play our DJ Mag Best of British Awards party, going b2b with some very special guests. Tickets are currently on sale for only £6 via the link below.
