Swedish House Mafia delay ‘Lioness’ release, promise it’s coming “soon”

The trio's second LP has now been pushed back twice

Swedish House Mafia delay Lioness

Swedish House Mafia have delayed the release of their highly-anticipated new single, 'Lioness'. Fans can now expect the record to arrive "soon".

The trio — Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, and Steve Angello — made the announcement on social media yesterday (28th April). They explained that last minute changes to elements of the music were needed after playing it out recently. However, fans who were lucky enough to attend their surprise live show at the Brooklyn Mirage on 27th April apparently heard what the group claim is the final mix. The single was originally set for release last week

"As many noticed Lioness is not out yet," the statement read. "Thank you for your patience and it’s with you soon, but after playing it live we weren’t satisfied with the production and needed to do last minute changes. New York you heard the final version now we are ready! We Love You."

The single is set to appear on trio's second album, the follow-up to 2022's 'Paradise Again'. The new album was originally supposed to land last summer, but was also delayed. Despite the hold-up, various tracks — and remixes — have featured in their live shows, including Coachella, for some time, and the single "Ray of Solar' arrived more than eight months ago. It's a scenario familiar to SHM fans. 'Paradise Again' was pushed from its originally scheduled November 2021 release date to the following April.

Swedish House Mafia are set for a residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza this year, and will perform six Sunday shows, from 21st July to 25th August, at the landmark club.
