Honey Dijon is taking over the Southbank Centre over two weekends this year for a special event called Honeyverse.

The DJ and producer will host performances on Saturday 9th September and Saturday 16th September at the central London event space. On 9th September, Dijon will give the world premiere of The Honey Dijon Experience, a hybrid concert featuring her and the live orchestra Radiant Baby Orchestra, commissioned by the Southbank Centre. Following the concert, Honey will play a DJ set in the Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer with support from Aqwea and Kampire.

The following weekend, on 16th September, Dijon will be joined by Red Pig Flower and Gayance for another round of DJ sets from the foyer. Alewya and Cakes Da Killa will also play live in the Queen Elizabeth Hall. That same day, Dijon will be joined by guests in the Purcell Room for a panel conversation on music, fashion and culture.

Honeyverse is described as taking inspiration from Dijon's roots in the Black and queer community. Speaking about the project, she said: “Discovery, Love, Joy. These are the tools of my creative practice and it gives me great pleasure to share with all of you the music and artists that inspired me in the curation of Honeyverse.

“So please join me for two exciting weekends full of cutting edge fun and an incredible and varied array of talent at Southbank Centre.”

Adem Holness, Head of Contemporary Music at the Southbank Centre, added: “Honey is a complete force of nature, with an encyclopaedic passion for music like I’ve never known. As an expert in getting bodies moving I am so thrilled to have Honey shake up our entire site. Honeyverse is a peak into Honey’s creative genius & a celebration of Black queer dance music. We can’t wait to dance with everyone.”

Tickets for Honeyverse go on general sale this Thursday, 25th May at 10AM BST here.

The news follows Dijon last month releasing a new music video for her track ‘Stand’, taken from her 2022 album ‘Black Girl Magic’.
