Cybotron, the pioneering Detroit electro outfit led by Juan Atkins, is releasing new music for the first time in nearly three decades.

Founded by Juan Atkins and Richard Davis in the 1980s, Cybotron is back with a new EP featuring new members Laurens von Oswald and Detroit In Effect's Tameko Williams alongside Atkins. 'Maintain The Golden Ratio' will feature two new tracks produced by von Oswald and Atkins, with the A-side mixed by TJ Hertz, AKA Objekt. It'll be released on 13th October by Tresor Records.

"The latest data disk marks a new chapter that reflects a techgnostic musical expression of the knowledge acquired during their decades-long hiatus", reads the EP's description by The Ryhthmanalyst, AKA Speaker Music's DeForrest Brown, Jr., via Bandcamp. "Unlike the dance music industrial replications of the Model 500 formula, acknowledging the content marketing expectations that segments music into specific, sellable genres, this techno music is self-aware."

The last Cybotron release was 1995's 'Cyber Ghetto' LP by Davis. Atkins left the group in 1985, but revived the project in 2018 for the first-ever Cybotron live shows with the current lineup. In 2020, Louis Vuitton Men's creative leads Virgil Abloh and Benji B booked Cybotron to perform live at the autumn/winter 2020 fashion show

In 2019, Ben Cardew examined the influence and staying power of Cybotron's 1983 debut album 'Enter' for DJ Mag's Solid Gold series.
