Massive Attack announce full line-up for climate action accelerator concert
The Bristol group will be joined by Killer Mike, Lankum and others for the August event
Massive Attack have confirmed the full supporting line-up for their upcoming climate action accelerator event.
The event, which was first announced late last year, will take place at Bristol's Clifton Downs on 25th August, and will be headlined by the group. Support sets on the day will come from Run The Jewels' Killer Mike, folk group Lankum, Sam Morton and DJ Milo.
The event will be powered by Ecotricity and Grid Faeries, and aims to be the lowest carbon and greenhouse gas emissions show of its size ever staged. Full details of the climate action measures being put in place for the show, and an invitation to people attending to contribute themselves, will be shared at the end of May.
As previously revealed, Massive Attack's plans to decarbonise the event will include providing electric shuttles to local railway stations to incentivise car-free travel; running the venue on 100% renewable energy; not serving meat at concession stands; and hiring touring and production vehicles that run on electric or 100% waste product HVO fuel.
"We're chuffed to play our home city again and to be able to do it in the right way", the group's 3D said in a press statement when the gig was first announced last year. "In terms of climate change action there are no excuses left; offsetting, endless seminars and diluted declarations have all been found out — so live music must drastically reduce all primary emissions and take account of fan travel.
"Working with pioneering partners on this project means we can seriously move the dial for major live music events and help create precedents that are immediately available."
In 2021, they called on the UK government to support the live music industry in cutting its carbon footprint.
