Spain's 20-hour desert rave announces first names

Richie Hawtin is among the players confirmed for the Elrow-run event...

Spain's 20-hour desert rave, Monegros Desert Festival, has announced its first names ahead of the event's return after a five year hiatus. Richie Hawtin, whose A/V album 'Close Combined' dropped in September, Paul Kalkbrenner and Amelie Lens lead the charge.

Hip hop act Natos & Woar have also been confirmed, with the final line-up set to see more than 50 artists joining for the 45,000 capacity, 20-hour gathering, which will run 12 stages from 1st - 2nd August 2020.

The brainchild of the team behind Elrow, Monegros Desert Festival was founded 21 years ago. Its comeback edition looks to celebrate dance music heritage with huge production focused on the concept of R.A.V.E. — paying homage to the late-1980s and 90s by way of a Radical Audio Visual Experience.

The overall idea is to offer one final "dazzling last dance" for the gathering after plans for the 2015 edition — which was renamed Groove Parade — were cancelled due to a legal disagreement over the site. Read our review of 2013's Monegros Desert Festival to get an idea of what's in store.
