Apple reportedly working on an M3-powered iMac
A new M3-powered MacBook Air is also reportedly due to arrive in June
Apple are reportedly working on a new M3-powered iMac.
According to a report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the tech giant has set the wheels in motion for its new line of laptops and desktops, which could yield a new M3-powered 13" MacBook Air in June and an M3-powered iMac later this year.
Gurman suggests that the process is at the advanced stage called "engineering validation testing, or EVT, and the company is conducting production tests of the machine".
Apple is reportedly set to launch its new M3 chip, which follows the M2 — in turn the successor to the M1 chip, which was first launched in 2020 — at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. According to Gurman, the new processor will illustrate Apple's move "from 5-nanometer chip process technology to a 3-nanometer design in the Mac".
Apple announced the arrival of its next-generation M2 chip and MacBook Pro line last year. "M2 starts the second generation of M-series chips and goes beyond the remarkable features of M1,” Johny Srouji, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Technologies, said at the time. “With our relentless focus on power-efficient performance, M2 delivers a faster CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine. And along with higher memory bandwidth and new capabilities like ProRes acceleration, M2 continues the tremendous pace of innovation in Apple silicon for the Mac.”
