10 tracks that define the sound of Amnesia Ibiza’s opening Pyramid season

When Amnesia announced a new Monday night event series to fill the void left by Cocoon it was big news. Once the weekly kicked off it was clear things were only going to get bigger...

Between 4th June and 24th September Pyramid has seen a wealth of serious house and techno talent turn up and do the business. That means Ben Klock, Ricardo Villalobos, a full Diynamic contingency, Maceo Plex, Nina Kraviz and Helena Hauff have all graced the venue, to name but a few.

Now the dust has settled for 2018 we asked ten guests and residents to select one track each that defines the sound of the first Pyramid season. Featuring our former DJ Mag UK cover star Charlotte de Witte, Mathias Kaden, Luigi Madonna, Darius Syrossian, Cuartero and Djebali, amongst others, check their selections below.

Charlotte de Witte
Industrialyzer - 'Multiple Walls' (Original Mix)

"I have been playing this one quite a lot this summer. It contains a super-catchy summer groove and it just works really well on the floor."

Mathias Kaden
Sante - 'Footsteps' (Mathias Kaden's Get Lost Remix)

“Powerful music for a powerful brand! Not too cheesy and with an underground drive for the dancefloor.”

Luigi Madonna
Claptone - Under The Moon Feat. Nathan Nicholson (Catz n Dogz Remix)

"I think this track sounds perfect in the main room at Amnesia. The vocal takes you on a journey and you can't stop dancing to its house beat and dark melodies on top. I absolutely love it."

Cuartero
Gotta feat. Tiana - Daddy Is Home (Harry Romero Remix)

"A completely playful track. Fun, with energy— positive, like Pyramid has been all season!"

Djebali
DJ Pierre - 'Fall' (Djebali remix)

"Pyramid isn’t defined just by music, it’s a spirit, a unique vibe, a wonderful friendly crowd and a full range of artists. 100 different cuts could soundtrack Pyramid parties but if I have to pick only one, I’d select the remix I did for DJ Pierre which was played during the B2B set between Ricardo Villalobos & Luciano on the terrace earlier in the season!"

Fideles
Bjork — Hidden Place (Fideles Re-interpretation)

"It was our first time to be invited to play for Pyramid on the Amnesia Terrace this summer, looking back at a track that defines that night and Pyramid is one of our own, the unofficial edit of Bjork 'Hidden Place'."

Darius Syrossian
Petter - 'Some Polyphony' (James Holden Remix)

"It was great on the terrace when I played for Pyramid and the production was unbelievable, I remember playing this right in the middle of my set to a full room and there was a dancer  on the podium in the middle of a huge pyramid created by lasers! It was a special moment and this track was perfect for it."

Luca Donzelli
Chris Wood & Christian Burkhardt - 'Bed and Butter' (Einzelkind Iceberg Slim Megamix)

"I played this one at the opening party of Pyramid, during my warm up set. It's a super-original track—  four tracks in one, so this is why it's called 'megamix'! This track represents every soul of Pyramid, so it's 100% Ibiza! Because our purpose is to bring the real Ibiza back.

"It goes from house to techno to breakbeat and then class house at the end, that’s Pyramid! That’s the real Balearic sound of Ibiza, and this is where we want to go. Everyone expressing themselves without any limit, without any law, the only law is the music. Ricardo Villalobos also played this track in his last set at Pyramid, one week ago. I heard him mixing it and thought...yess yessss that’s Pyramid!”

Mar-T
Luca Donzelli & Mar-T - 'Stay Alert Stay Alive'

"For me the track I produced together with Luca Donzelli, called 'Stay Alert, Stay Alive', out on Elrow Music, is the track that better defines my sets at Pyramid as I'm super-happy with how the crowd reacts when I play it. It's one of my top memories of the summer on Mondays."

CAAL
Depeche Mode - The Sinner In Me (Villalobos Mix)

"Ricardo Villalobos represents what we were looking for in Pyramid. This track represents Pyramid’s vibe!"
