MC SPARKS RIP

Tributes pour in for garage MC from Flex FM

One of the best-loved MCs in UK club-land, MC Sparks, died at the weekend. He was known as one of the main MCs on the UK garage scene.

MistaJam, Jumping Jack Frost and DJ Q were among DJs who paid tribute to Sparks, while Tulisa from N-Dubz and rapper Kano also tweeted their condolences.

The Flex FM mic-spitter, real name Sean Jones, was probably best known outside of the scene for his track 'Fly-Bi', recorded with MC Kie. The track was produced by Teebone at the start of the century, and there is now a campaign — kicked off by Majestic — to get 'Fly-Bi' to No.1 this weekend.

Fans are being urged to buy the Teebone album version here — with all proceeds going towards Sparks's family.

Sparks didn't appear as a featured vocalist on many tracks, but he's been the voice of literally hundreds of garage raves in the UK. Many many thousands will have jumped to his rhymes. DJ Mag's thoughts are with Sparks's friends and family at this sad time.
