Carl Cox may have closed out the last night at Space towards the end of 2016, but that didn’t signal the end of his association with Ibiza. He was back in the summer of 2017 for a couple of gigs for Resistance at Privilege, and while he was out on the White Isle we managed to snag him for a DJ Mag live stream.

Because it was Coxy, the winner of our Outstanding Contribution award at last year’s Best Of British, we secured an amazing villa up in the hills from where to broadcast the set. Most of our HQ Sessions literally do take place at our HQ in Angel, north London, but we sometimes take them on tour — and this was a truly special one. Starting off with Daft Punk, the big fella dropped an eclectic house set to a select invite-only crowd, including snippets of classics such as ’Unfinished Sympathy’ by Massive Attack and Gat Decor ‘Passion’.

This was a proper off-the-cuff sunset Balearic session from an impeccable DJ but you didn’t have to be there to enjoy it. Approximately 1.7million people have viewed it online so far, so it was no surprise that Coxy was voted the winner after we nominated him in this category.
