An Avrin will release a new EP, ‘Partisan Pitstop’, via Scuffed Recordings this Friday.
The London-based producer, who last appeared on Scuffed with 2020’s ‘Clodhopper’ EP, returns with four original cuts of razor-sharp breakbeats, wobbly basslines and oddball electronics and samples. Much like his Scuffed peers Nikki Nair and Ayesha, An Avrin chops and splices the raw, ravey materials of techno, electro and breakbeat hardcore into punchy new forms. Racing through tempos and rhythmic patterns, these tracks never stay in one place for long, and spark new moments of dancefloor adrenaline at each turn.
The EP ends with a suitably rowdy remix from Sonia Calico. Demonstrating the same high-octane percussive flair of her 2020 LP for More Time Records, the Taipei-based producer serves up a wild take on ‘Plata’, swapping out the original’s skippy breakbeats for a hybridised club rhythm, complete with a gqom flourish and FWD>> momentum.
