Black Friday 2021: the best deals for DJs and producers

Black Friday is back — the most wonderful time of the year, when music-making tools like plugins, instruments, DJ equipment and studio goodies all get a hefty discount for us all to stock up and get creative for the winter months. It’s become something of a tradition, and as the years roll in, so too do the lengths of the sales, some starting as early as November 1st. We’ve got you covered with our guide to this year’s best deals.

Slate Digital — as well as making some of the best mixing plugins on the market — started out as a drum samples company, with their drum replacements tools quickly making them a household name. You can pick up their SSD plugin with a bunch of real-world drum sound packs from famous drummers for up to 66% off. Grab them here. 

For the whole of November, plugin legends Waves are running a huge amount of deals and sales across their plugin range and bundles. There’s up to 92% off their epic Horizon bundle that features a massive 83 plugins for mixing and music production. Elsewhere single plugins that would have cost £249 are now as low as £29. Get on it. 

Output Sounds is quickly becoming one of the go-to plugin companies in music production, used by everyone from Rihanna and Coldplay to soundtracks on Stranger Things and Black Panther. They’re offering 35% off all their plugins (minus the new Arcade 2.0) including Exhale, Analog Strings, Signal and Substance. The world’s biggest plugin marketplace, Plugin Boutique’s Black Friday sales are the stuff of legend. This year they’re back with familiar weighty cuts, with up to 95% off iZotope plugins including Neutron, Ozone and Iris 2. Elsewhere, there’s up to 70% off Soundtoys plugins, Sonnox plugs are down 75% and Loopcloud’s DRUM is 25% off. Get the whole list of discounts here. 

Softube is running deals that refresh every Friday throughout November. This week they’ve got up to 57% off their Chandler Curve Bender Mastering EQ, Chandler Limiter, Monument Bass synth and more. Check back every week for the latest discounts. 

As well as running deals on Plugin Boutique, Izotope are also hosting their own discounts directly from their website, including a Holiday Bundle edition which is down from $1,342 to $49! Soundtoys are some of the most popular plugs going. They range from sonic destroyers to subtle enhancers and everything in between. Creative sound design or traditional mixing, there'll be a plugin for you in the Soundtoys suite. Once out of reach of most bedroom producers, they've more recently made their tools more affordable, much to the delight of your average producer. This year you can grab the whole suite for $299, which includes 21 plugins! Effect Rack is $129 and the individual plugs are over 70% off. Trust us, grab some. 

Melda makes some of the best free plugs going – it's worth heading to their website right now to grab those too – but their paid-for bundle is even more impressive. They cover everything from EQ and compression to more utility tools like Drum Replacer, AutoAlign, StereoFix and general plugs that will help you keep moving forward with your music-making and not get caught up in troubleshooting. The complete bundle of 112 plugins is now down to £903, which is half price, as are every other plugin in their catalogue. IK Multimedia are one of the leading brands in music tech software and hardware – their TRackS system is particularly worth investigating. Across the month of November you can get 50% off their Lurssen mastering console, which was originally released for iPad and iPhone, but also works on Mac. They're also offering an introductory price for their new FAME Reverb plugin so check that out too on their website. 

Despite Apple introducing a brand new MBP with M1 Pro and Max, the M1 that was released in 2020 is still very capable machine for DJs and producers. Amazon currently have it on sale with £130 off Apple's own price – 10% off in total. Not a bad deal. Get it here. 

Cloud-based sample wonder store Loopcloud is offering a deal on users who switch to their Annual plan over their Monthly one. There are bonus Loopcloud points, free sound packs, free KHORDS plugin, three exclusive DRUM packs and two months of Producertech all access, plus all the benefits of a Loopcloud sub. FL Studio creators Image-Line is offering the full bundle of FL Studio – which includes all FL features and native plugs – as well as some extras for Black Friday including Urban Puncher dynamics tool worth $72, the multi-FX plugin KSHMR Essentials worth $99 and five extra sample packs worth $170. The whole collection costs £297, and you can grab it here until 31 November. 

French software and hardware company Arturia is one of the go-to names when you think of electronic music production. Their iconic V Collection houses some of the best recreations of legendary synths ever made and on top of that, their dedicated all-purpose synth Pigments is also multi-award winning for its versatile sound and features. Both are 50% off this November, along with their FX Collection 2. A bargain, no doubt. Get it here. 

Makers of highly impressive Dubler plugin, Vochlea's Black Friday sale sees them drop the first version of the mouth-to-MIDI software by 40% while Dubler 2 is 30% off. Dubler 2 with the dedicated dynamic mic is 20% off. It all kicks off on the 26th November but you can register for early access here.  

Music production and DJ gurus Native Instruments have been in the game for a long time and their November sales are always popular. 2021 sees them add a 50% discount to over 250 instruments, effects and Expansions and 30% on upgrades for Komplet. They've also cut the prices in half for flagship software like Massive X, Guitar Rig Pro 6 and Kontakt 6. Dive into the sale here. 

Sonarworks has been transforming bedroom studios into pro spaces for years, as one of the best acoustic measurement tools on the market. Now, they're offering 40% off a range of SoundID software, with the reference plugin for headphones coming in at $59 and the speakers version $149, down from $249. Get involved here. 

Creators of high-quality samples and instruments, Ujam are offering up to 70% off their plugins this Black Friday. With everyone from K-Pop to hard rock, it's likely you'll find new inspiration among their many products. Have a scan though, listen to the demos and pick your faves here. 

Online retailer Reverb is one of the biggest in the world and they've got a Black Friday sale to match.  They're offering up to 70% off brands like Universal Audio, Focusrite and Roland and more. Some picks include 44% off Focusrite's Scarlett 6i6, down to £125 from £219 Nice one. There's also plenty of used kit like classic analogue synths that are also discounted. Check them all here.
