SHALT returns for his seventh outing on Los Angeles label, Astral Plane Recordings, this Friday 14th February.
‘Ochre Flood’ follows the London-based experimental producer’s 2018 LP on the label, ‘Seraphim’, and three recently self-released collections of club-ready pop edits, ‘ʃælt’ i, ii and iii. The new EP finds SHALT on typically expert form, offering three tracks that are more than robust and rhythmic enough for heavywieght soundsystems, but designed with an intricacy that makes listening on headphones an equally gripping experience. With dubstep and dancehall rhythms, sizzling percussion and swerving sub-bass, ‘Shudder’ and ‘Ochre’ are multi-faceted and electrifying club pieces.
‘Unlast’ meanwhile, closes the EP with a harder edge, its relentless kicks and percussive rolls underpinning an almost industrial atmosphere. It’s huge. Check it out below.
