Armin van Buuren hid a secret message to his son in the new album ‘Balance’

He recently gave a track-by-track breakdown of 'Balance' in an interview with Deezer

Armin van Buuren has given a track-by-track breakdown of his latest album, 'Balance', to streaming service, Deezer.

In a playlist uploaded to the platform this week, van Buuren provided commentary for the 28-track album, which is the trance legend's seventh. Speaking about balance, he said: “I’m a trance guy and I’ll never forget my roots. So the DJ Armin Van Buuren is a little different than the artist Armin Van Buuren. As an artist I have a more wider range of sounds so I’ve been experimenting a lot with ballads, with pop with hardstyle. But in the end I always come home to trance - half of the album is what you expect from Armin Van Buuren and the other half is experimenting.”

He also shared in the commentary that album track 'Wild Wild Son', featuring Sam Martin, is one of his favourites from 'Balance', and is about the love for his child. van Buuren said “It refers to the love I feel for my own son... the message is don’t be afraid to live, don’t be afraid to make mistakes - I will love you whatever happens”. He also admitted that the track was a ballad, and "a departure from the "trancey" Armin van Buuren that you may know".

Armin van Buuren's A State Of Trance (ASOT) will return to Ultra Festival next year, which takes place on the 20th, 21st and 22nd March.

Armin van Buuren won the Highest Trance award at this year’s DJ Mag Top 100 DJs 2019. He holds steady in fourth place after landing the same position last year. It marks his 18th consecutive appearance in the top 5.
