The Avalanches soundtrack new short film, Yeah The Boys

The pair's first new music in almost three years

Avalanches Yeah The Boys Film Soundtrack

The Avalanches have scored a new short film, Yeah The Boys, which will premiere tomorrow, Friday 19th January, as part of Sydney's Flickerfest.

Directed by Stefan Hunt, founder of the We're All Going To Die creative community, and with BAFTA-winner Vanessa Marian Varghese credited as writer, the eight-minute production takes a sharp look at contemporary Australian masculinity and drinking culture.

The soundtrack is the first new music to come from the two Melbourne artists, Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi, since The Avalanches' 2021 single, 'Cola Boyy'. However, the pair had confirmed last August that another album would be forthcoming.

The group have released three LPs to date, including the multi-award-winning landmark debut, 'Since I Left You'. Their second, 'Wildflower', took 16 years to materialise, and was followed by 2020's 'We Will Always Love You'.

Flickerfest celebrates 33 years as Sydney's International Short Film Festival this month, and hosts screenings from this weekend to Sunday 28th January at the iconic Bondi Pavilion. A heritage building dating back to the 1920s situated on one of Australia's most famous stretches of sand, it reopened last year following a huge multi-million dollar refurbishment.
