Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter has released his soundtrack to the 2023 dance performance, 'Chiroptera', alongside a near six-hour extended version, 'Chiroptera Matiere Premiere', via his own label, Alberts & Gothmann. You can listen to it below.

Bangalter composed the music for the dance piece with choreographer Damien Jallet and artist JR. 'Chiroptera' premiered on 12th November 2023 at the Paris Opera House. The performance, which featured 154 dancers, included 12 minutes of the musician's full composition, which spans five hours and 50 minutes.

'Chiroptera' will be released on vinyl on 30th August, with pre-orders available now via Bandcamp. Fans can also purchase a limited-edition 'Chiroptera Matiere Premiere' vinyl box set, priced at €416.67, through Atelier JR's website or Galerie Perrotin in Paris. There are only 200 box sets for sale.

Along with the two releases, Bangalter has also composed 'Aletheia 19', a sound installation consisting of 19 monophonic microgrooves cut on vinyl. The installation is part of JR's 'Dans La Lumiere' exhibition at Galerie Perrotin – which presents a series of recent works inspired by 'Chiroptera' – and will be presented from 7th to 15th June in the gallery's Espace Saint-Claude.

'Chiroptera' isn't the first soundtrack Bangalter has released this year. In February, he shared the soundtrack for the French comedy about Salvador Dalí called Daaaaaalí. Last year, he released 'Mythologies', a 90-minute orchestral score for a ballet of the same name.
