Daft Punk's 'Random Access Memories' named "most collected release" on Discogs

Daft Punk's final album 'Random Access Memories' has been named the "most collected release" on Discogs, according to new data.

The original 2013 double-vinyl release of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo's final album together has been catalogued in nearly 68,000 Discogs users' collections, states a new report from the music release database as it hits the milestone of 750 million records collected. This follows previous Discogs headline stats for the French duo's beloved LP, like crowning it the best-selling album of the 2010s and an extreme sale of $2,139 (USD) for a deluxe vinyl box set version of 'Random Access Memories' from 2014.

Additional highlights from the newly released Discogs data include: Electronic being the second-most collected genre at 22%, behind rock's majority 53%; vinyl remaining priority format with 70% of collected releases; and Discogs has securely crossed over into the Taylor Swift fanbase with all five of the most collected releases of the 2020s so far being various LPs and versions of the pop superstar's discography.

On streaming, 'Random Access Memories'' lead single 'Get Lucky' hit one billion Spotify streams in December 2023.

Daft Punk continued the 10th anniversary celebrations of 'Random Access Memories' with a wax figure display at Madame Tussauds New York debuting last month. There has also been a vinyl reissue featuring previously unreleased music, a drumless edition of the LP, several series about the creation of the album and more. Recently, they livestreamed their 2003 anime film Interstella 5555: The 5tory Of The 5ecret 5tar 5ystem to mark the third anniversary of their split

An unreleased 2018 Daft Punk album may soon see the light of day, according to a former session drummer.

As a solo artist, Thomas Bangalter's latest scoring work, the soundtrack for the movie Daaaaaalí!, is out now.
