David Guetta crowned The World’s No. 1 DJ in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs 2023

The results for the Top 100 DJs 2023 poll have been announced

David Guetta has been crowned The World’s No. 1 DJ in this year’s DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll.

The Frenchman has returned to the No.1 spot for the fourth time — more than a decade after he was first crowned the world’s No.1 DJ back in 2011. His great friend and mentee Martin Garrix topped the poll last year. With four wins a piece, the pair are now second only to Dutch trance legend Armin van Buuren, with his five No. 1s.

“It’s incredible! It’s wonderful!” Guetta said of his win. “It’s great because I feel like every time I’m on the top of the Top 100, it’s for a different reason. You know, the two previous times were probably thanks to Future Rave. This time is probably thanks to ‘I’m Good’ and those big crossover records. I love that I can express different feelings in different ways.”

Guetta achieved international success in 2001 with the release of the soaring dancefloor banger ‘A Little More Love’. Since then, the Spotify top-streaming artist has masterfully juggled the role of pop megastar without losing touch with his roots. In the past 12 months alone, he’s collaborated with the likes of Britney Spears, Zara Larsson, Bebe Rexha, and more.

Guetta also dived deeper into his Future Rave records and party concept this year – an effort which included bringing Future Rave to Hï Ibiza on Friday nights. “It’s been nice to almost, let’s say, go back to my foundations and talk to only DJs, rather than to be on the radio, or make music just for streams,” she said. “It was just music for the community only, and that gave me a lot of happiness and satisfaction. And also, I think it had a big influence on the scene.”

The awards were announced during a broadcast event, hosted by BBC Radio One’s Arielle Free from The Standard, Ibiza. The show featured an iconic David Guetta performance from an Ibiza cliff top, alongside sets from four leading DJs from unique locations that spanned five continents.

The awards show and full sets are available to watch now on DJ Mag’s YouTube channel. Chinese viewers can also enjoy the show on NetEase Cloud Music, the exclusive Top 100 DJs results partner for the China market.

1.3 million votes were counted from 237 countries in this year’s Top 100 DJs poll. You can see the full Top 100 DJs list here.
