Diplo speaks out about Viceland mockumentary, 'What Would Diplo Do'

The Mad Decent bossman responds to new Viceland show...

Diplo has spoken out about a forthcoming mockumentary series inspired by his life — titled 'What Would Diplo Do' — that's set to premiere on Viceland next week.

The first scripted show on the network features Dawson’s Creek actor James Van Der Beek playing the DJ and producer in what Diplo says “isn’t a reflection” of himself. Instead, it’s a parody of his Twitter account; one that Diplo claims was “always a joke”.

‘What Would Diplo Do?’ features scenes that apparently made the producer uncomfortable, though he still signed off on them, even joining the team in the writer’s room to offer suggestions and ideas. “I view it as sacrificing myself to poke fun at DJ/EDM culture as a whole,” he told Rolling Stone.

Due to air in five parts and star fellow EDM joker Dillon Francis alongside Friday Night Lights’ Dora Madison, watch the original promo and trailer for 'What Would Diplo Do' below.

‘What Would Diplo Do?’ premieres on Viceland on 8th August.
