Trance legend Ferry Corsten has been knighted by the Dutch King for his contribution to the country’s music industry.
"I’m extremely honoured to have been knighted as Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau by the Dutch King and mayor," wrote the Dutch DJ on Instagram. "I’m absolutely speechless and especially moved that my dad has initiated this, with overwhelming support from the music industry.
"Thanks to everyone who has supported me over the years and have listened to my music. This couldn’t have happened without you guys".
Corsten is the third Dutch DJ to be knighted following Armin Van Buuren in 2011 and Tiësto in 2003.
Back in March, Corsten announced a new live trance project, 'What the F', which begins with a live show at Ministry of Sound, London, on 6th May. The performance will feature music spanning the artist's career "rehashed, remixed, and reinvented" with a futuristic approach.
