Flume teases collaboration with Gorillaz’s Damon Albarn in new video: Watch

The Australian electronic producer's tropical-themed clip features the British maestro's unmistakable voice

Flume has teased a collaboration with Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn in a new video shared to social media channels.

The clip, entitled 'Flume — 2022', features an ambient soundtrack and the inimitable vocal style of Albarn, and is the first taste fans have had of the pair's shared efforts which were first announced by the latter in 2019. Visually, footage matches score, with lush tropical landscapes on display and rainforest sounds complementing waves of synth and drone.

"I thought beyond the exit, there would be palaces," Albarn sings as the short fades to black.

This is the latest sign of a re-energised Flume. Last year, the Australian electronic producer and 2021 Grammy nominee dropped his remix of Danny L Harle's 'On A Mountain', at the time his first new material in well over a year. A fresh collection of original music has also been confirmed for 2022 in the form of a third full-length album, although no specifics have been given on an exact release date. In 2020, the artist put out an open call for 'corona collabs' — remote collaborations that could be made during COVID-19 lockdowns — and also opened up about drug and alcohol abuse in a candid interview for the 'My Friend Podcast' series.
