Gaza humanitarian crisis: fundraising electronic music compilations, tracks and EPs out this week

Updated 3rd January

A number of musicians and record labels have been releasing music via Bandcamp in an effort to raise funds for charities working to support innocent civilians impacted by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Citizens in the Palestinian region have been living in a state of "complete siege" since 9th October, when Israeli forces began an offensive with deadly air attacks – on buildings including hospitals, schools, refugee camps, mosques and churches – and launched a subsequent ground invasion. This was in response to a string of attacks carried out by the militant group Hamas on the 7th October in which over 1,000 people were killed, including 260 attendees of the psytrance festival Supernova. Hostages were also taken, a number of whom were released during a temporary truce, which began on 23rd November.

At least 22,000 Palestinians have now been killed in ground and air assaults in Gaza, including thousands of children. Charities warn that 2.3 people million could be displaced amid a rapidly mounting humanitarian crisis. Citizens in Gaza have endured desperate conditions, with a near-total blockade restricting deliveries of fuel, food and medicines. Lack of power has led to blackouts, a shutdown of communication with the outside world, and fears for patients in hospitals.

More than 800 scholars and practitioners of international law, conflict studies and genocide studies signed an open letter on 15th October warning of “the possibility of the crime of genocide being perpetrated by Israeli forces against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip”.

Numerous groups and individuals from the international electronic and wider music community have been vocal about the situation, with hundreds signing a letter in solidarity with Palestine as part of the Ravers For Palestine movement. Shannen SP, Tash LC, Ross From Friends and Objekt were among the signatories. In November, the #MusicForCeasefire open letter was published, with more than 1,000 artists calling for an end to hostilities.

Promoters and artists have also shown solidarity with the population of Gaza through fund and awareness-raising events. Find a round-up of upcoming events here.

Below, we've rounded up a number of electronic music releases – covering compilations, EPs and tracks – which have recently been made available on Bandcamp to raise money for charities such as Doctors Without Borders, PCRFMédecins Sans FrontièresUN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine and Medical Aid for Palestinians.

Radiant Records 'Radiant Records Palestine Comp'

"Radiant Records Palestine comp. All proceeds from this release will go directly towards protesters in Europe supporting Palestine and the legal fees and fines they may have incurred, until it is possible for these funds to reach the Palestinian people directly."

Silicone Records 'Artists Without Borders'

"All artists participating in this compilation call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to genocide, with a specific focus on the actions of Israeli occupying forces in Gaza and the West Bank. We reject the decades-long occupation of Palestine, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing, and we stand against all forms of violence, promoting solidarity and justice. We also demand the unrestricted provision of essential resources to innocent civilians in Gaza without any limitations.

We kindly request your generous donations for the compilation. Every contribution will be dedicated to supporting the invaluable work of Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières, with a specific intention to aid those who have been injured in Gaza."

Duality Trax 'Visions Vol. 2 - V/A'

"Holly Lester’s Duality Trax imprint continues its mission to find balance within the music industry by bridging gender gaps and pushing the boundaries of contemporary club music. The next release sees the label's second VA come to fruition, focusing on six emerging and established artists that are all making their mark within their respective cities and beyond.

100% of compilation profits will be donated to Palestine Children's Relief Fund."

EQ50 'EQ50 Presents 4GAZA'

"Like so many, we have been horrified and deeply affected by the current and ongoing genocide, crimes against humanity, devastation, and displacement of people in Gaza and beyond. Spurred by the dire situation and acute need to help in as many ways as possible, we called on our support network of talented producers, asking them to contribute a piece of music to this fundraising project - and they definitely came through with the goods.

4GAZA spans many moods of D&B and Jungle, from deep liquid to tearout. Please buy what you can, support, share! All profits will be split between Anera, an 'on the ground' organisation helping refugees and others hurt by conflicts in Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan since 1968 - learn about their daily activities https://www.anera.org/blog/, and DecolonizePalestine, an independent self-funded collection of resources for organizers and anyone who wants to learn more about Palestine, founded by two Palestinians living in Ramallah - https://decolonizepalestine.com/"

House of Afandi Records 'By the People, For the People'

"Every note, lyric, and melody shared within this album carries a powerful promise – 100% of the proceeds will be donated directly to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund. With the invaluable support of our second families Souqsounds, SceneNoise, Noise Records, and Soundsource Studio - the album will be directing a united flow of support to a singular source. Regardless of the years that pass, the generosity of listeners and artists alike, every penny this album generates will forever be donated to Palestine."

V/A 'Earthlings 4 Palestine: In Solidarity With Gaza'

"Words fall short in capturing the atrocities and horrors unfolding in the Middle East. The international community's failure to declare even a 'humanitarian' pause has left us witnessing the genocide of a people. Though we may feel helpless in changing the situation, we can offer our unwavering solidarity. This compilation represents a handful of producers' desire to contribute in some way in support of Palestine. All proceeds from this release will be dedicated to Jewish Voice For Peace, an organization taking impactful action where it matters most for this cause. Take care of your fellow Earthlings, we're all on this planet together."

Various Artists 'Rise Up: BDS Mixtape Vol. 2'

"From Palestine to New York to Hawai’i, club banger to rock to hip-hop, BDS Mixtape Volume 2 is a call to artists and audiences to Rise Up for Palestinian freedom – and the response resounds: a declaration of the deep knowledge that none of us is free until all of us are free."

Over And Out 'In Aid Of Palestine'

"A 10 track compilation curated to raise funds for those affected by recent events in Gaza. Recommended donations for the compilation from £5+, but something is better than nothing so donate what you can. All profits will be donated to Gaza related charities, with the first donations being sent to UNRWA."

GIDEÖN 'Study War No More'

"The label will give 100% of profits of this track to UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine). 'Study War No More' is HOMO-CENTRIC's note to all the heterosexual, male, autocratic despots and tyrants currently in the seats of power across our planet. Primarily it is dedicated to both sets of psychotic corrupt bloodthirsty religious extremists who have bribed, lied, agitated, manipulated and coerced their way into power in Israel and Gaza."

Paralaxe Editions 'For Palestine'

"All proceeds will go to Médecins Sans Frontières. This charity has been chosen as the benefactor as I am not only familiar with their mission statement and field work, but many of my medical colleagues have directly worked with the organisation in different locations around the globe. MSF currently has doctors and staff on the ground in Gaza, and they are actively working to treat patients and get desperately needed supplies across the border."

mi-el 'from the river to the sea'

"Inspired by the political, social and psychological power of chanting, 'from the river to the sea' is mi-el's debut production, releasing as a charity single in support of MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians). The entire track is made from vocal samples, utilising the power of the voice and the body, which embody a visceral energy that is completely inimitable by any digital instrument."

Various Artists 'From The River To The Sea'

"This V/A compilation has been created as a means to meet the immediate medical and humanitarian needs in Gaza, whilst also serving as a means to show solidarity for the Palestinian liberation movement. Financial aid is but one avenue in which we can support Palestine in their time of crisis; Faoi Thalamh would encourage everyone to use their platform/voice for those that have none, to highlight the atrocities currently being inflicted in Gaza and to get out and protest every chance you get. We need to let global leaders know that we will not stand idly by as civilians are massacred in their thousands!"

MCR4PAL 'From Manchester to Palestine'

"From Manchester To Palestine: A Compilation of Music & Poetry is an urgent show of solidarity from creatives in the city. Available for only 30 days, the project is a heartfelt outburst and powerful testament to the collective heart of Greater Manchester with so many people answering the call out in just 7 days. The album is available from 3rd November-3rd December only. All proceeds will be donated to Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) and Restless Beings."

ZULI 'Komy'

"My collaborators and I have decided to donate all the profits from this EP to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP)."

phrex, sawra!, Cutkachi 'Hurryia For Gaza'

"This is a Fundraiser for occupied Palestine. No words can describe what is going on right now. A genocide is unfolding – bombs are dropping and killing civilians. All I can contribute is music. It feels dull sharing music in the face of what is happening but it's what I am able to do now. All money raised will go to Palestinian Medical Relief Society and Médecins Sans Frontières."

Peder Mannerfelt 'Request Line (Soulwax Edit)'

"Pay what you want, all proceeds will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders."

Double O 'Firm Meditation VIP'

"Standing in solidarity with Palestine, all proceeds from 'Firm Meditation VIP' will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians."

eoin dj 'edits for palestine'

"Tried and tested edits to raise funds for excellent causes. 100% of proceeds will be split between European Legal Support Center, Palästina Kampagne, Gaza Emergency Appeal, Oxfam Gaza Crisis Appeal and Center for Jewish Nonviolence."

Various Artists 'They Will Be Free: A VA For Palestine'

"Fundraiser compilations to raise money for aid in Gaza. Every penny raised will be sent to Medical Aid for Palestinians."

Various Artists 'C2E - Emergency For Gaza'

"All proceeds raised from the sales of the compilation will be donated to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund. PCRF ensure humanitarian aid and medical care to the children of Palestine."
