I. JORDAN shares new single, 'Close To You': Listen
The new track is the second to be released for their forthcoming debut album
I. JORDAN has released a new single, ‘Close To You’. Check it out below.
The new track is lifted from the London-based artist's debut album ‘I AM JORDAN’, which was announced last month and is slated for release 10th May via Ninja Tune.
‘Close To You' follows the release of the album's lead single, 'Real Hot n Naughty (feat. Felix Mufti)'. That single was shared with an accompanying music video in which Jordan, Felix and friends transform a local bingo hall into a party with the local townspeople, celebrating the importance of community – you can watch it here.
Jordan described the new single as “an emotional, hands in the air and hug your mate club moment. I played this as the sun was setting at Draaimolen and it felt like the perfect time for it.”
Stressing the significance of community and its influence on their upcoming album, Jordan added: "Everyone is interconnected, and the idea of being an individual is a bit of a myth... I wouldn’t be who I am without everyone else around me.”
“My friends, especially those who have supported me through all the transition stuff, my trans friends that I’ve relied on, Reddit group chats - it’s all so important. In the trans community, none of us do this on our own.”
The forthcoming 12-track album will also feature guest appearances from TAAHLIAH and Sister Zo. It comes after series of recent collaborative releases from I. JORDAN, with artists such as Fred again.., Planningtorock, and SHERELLE, as well as remixing tracks for Fever Ray, Romy, and Eliza Rose.
