Idris Elba and Kevin Saunderson are collaborating on new Inner City music

They're working on "a melting pot of UK and Detroit sounds!"

Kevin Saunderson and Idris Elba have been working on new Inner City music together, according to a new Facebook post.

Saunderson published a photo of the pair collaborating, writing: 'In the Studio with Idris Elba, a melting pot of UK and Detroit sounds! An amazing experience, stay tuned for the new Inner City Material'.

Inner City, the act founded by Saunderson, took their show around Europe last year as part of a 30th anniversary tour. With the tour announcement came the promise of new material, with Saunderson saying: "My vision for Inner City is not just to be an influential group of the past, but to become a group of today and look to the future.

"We have an enormous catalogue of classics from our previous years and now we are moving and shaping a new sound for a new generation."

The outfit rose to fame after the wide acclaim of 1988’s 'Big Fun' and 1989’s 'Good Life'.

A GoFundMe was launched earlier this month in aid of Inner City's Paris Grey, following the tragic loss of her daughter to cancer.

Last year, Idris Elba released a garage track called 'L.U.V.' under his Charlie Ayo alias, featuring former All Saints member Shaznay Lewis.
