J Dilla-produced Yancey Boys album, 'Sunset Blvd', set for limited edition vinyl repress

A special edition package to mark 10 years of the posthumous classic

J Dilla Yancey Boys repress

The Yancey Boys album 'Sunset Blvd' is set for a limited edition vinyl repress, complete with all original instrumentals, an exclusive t-shirt, and brand new "All Beats By J Dilla" artwork. The package arrives on 1st December.

Originally dropped in 2013, the record is based on archive instrumentals that were recorded by J Dilla — AKA James Yancey — but never finished before his death in 2006. Six years later, Mike Ross, founder of Delicious Vinyl, received a vault of material from the late producer's mother, Maureen Yancey, with hundreds of beats, which were then whittled down to around 50.

A selection of these then formed the roots of tracks on 'Sunset Blvd', devised, developed and completed by Dilla's friends and collaborators Frank Nitt (Frank N'Dank), Illa J and a group of cohorts. The new issue, which comes from Milton Keynes-based label King Underground (KU) and Delicious, will be the first time the record has been made available since it first landed.
