Jeff Mills accidentally releases another producer’s track under his own name

The track off the first release on Mills' new sub-label Str Mrkd belongs to Julien H. Mulder...

Jeff Mills has mistakenly released another producer's track under his own name, featured on the debut release of his new sub-label Str Mrkd.

'Str Mrkd 001' intended to feature four new tracks from the Detroit techno legend, but 'Patterns In Nature' was actually produced by Swedish artist Julien H. Mulder, who had sent demos to Mills previously.

Mills' label Axis Records posted a statement on Facebook clarifying that: "In a rare mistake, it was selected for this release as Mills believed it was a track that he produced from his past recordings." The post continued: "As he reviews tracks, he sometimes makes a CD containing samples of tracks of himself and others to test while out on tour. On an unmarked CD and because of the similarity in production style, Mills mistook this track as something he had made a while ago and proceeded to add this to the release."

The post added that Mulder will receive due compensation and will be credited on all subsequent represses of the EP, the first since the sub-label's launch last month.
