Kyle Hall & Steven Julien reunite for first new EP in 10 years, 'Crown': Listen

Detroit's Kyle Hall and London's Steven Julien, AKA Funkineven, have linked up for their first EP together in a decade.

Spanning seven tracks, 'Crown' follows on from the two artists' previous collaborations under the Funkinevil alias on 2013's 'Ignorant' and 2012's 'Night/Dusk'. Like those records, 'Crown' draws on elements of house and soul.

The record was pieced together from studio jams that the duo created across a number of years between their studios in Detroit and London, with opening cut, 'Page 1', featuring a manipulated vocal sample from James Massiah.

Speaking about the EP, Julien said: "I think a lot of people have forgotten about what this whole thing is about. Musically, artistry and everything. So I'm happy this is what we represent on this project."

'Crown' will be released on Apron Records on 16th June. Listen to lead cut 'Page 3' below.
