Maral shares animated video for new single, 'setar rock': Watch

Maral has shared a new single, 'setar rock'.

Self-released today (10th July) by the LA-based Iranian-American producer, the track follows a recent run of singles that has included the tracks 'lavender's love' and 'wondering dub'. It's accompanied by an animated video, made by Annapurna Kumar and Jackie Turpin, who have both accompanied Maral to do live visuals during her recent live shows.

"I wanted to make a track with more space in between the sounds and a sparse conversation between the setar and guitar start it out," Maral said of 'setar rock'. "I've been trying to make more uplifting music, to channel the gratefulness I have for everything and the beautiful nature I get to exist in but like life, there is always darkness within the light and the track ends up sounding like my internal struggle of anxiety/fear/health issues versus the goodness in life. Trying to take what my aunts in Iran taught me, how to be grateful even within the bad."
