Mexico listens to more music than anywhere else in the world, study finds

Averaging 25.6 hours of listening per week

A new study has found that Mexico listens to more music than the rest of the world.

Carried out by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), the report found that citizens average 25.6 hours of listening per week, which is eight hours more than the global national average.

With the U.S. music industry expected to generate $10 billion this year, the North American country, south of the United States, has a population of approximately 126 million people.

For the study, 34,000 internet users aged between 16-64 were surveyed across 21 countries representing 92% of global music revenues. It also found that dance/electronic music ranks fifth out of ten of the world's favourite music genres.
