Mint Warehouse introduces "flash off on the dancefloor" phone policy

Leeds' Mint Warehouse has introduced a "flash off on the dancefloor" policy for future events.
In a statement, the team at the club said that while they understand that you can't entirely cut out the use of phones in clubs, they hoped to encourage people attending the venue to "switch off and be present".
The statement continued: "We won't be banning the use of phones completely but as a minimum, we ask that no flash be used on the dancefloor. The use of flash for us is an absolute vibe killer. The last thing you want in a rave is a huge light coming off of someone's phone and ruining the vibe for everyone."
The venue's team signed off a social media post about the new policy by asking clubbers to help them roll out the policy by encouraging anyone seen using the flash function on their phone to turn it off.
Mint Warehouse is one of a number of clubs to introduce policies around the use of phones and cameras at events. After reopening in June 2021 following COVID-19 lockdowns, fabric unveiled a new 'no photo, no video' on the dancefloor policy, while Berlin's Berghain of course prohibits the use of cameras inside the venue.
