MixesDB, long-running mix database, to shut down after 20 years

The long-running mixes and tracklisting database MixesDB is to go offline for good on Saturday, 29th June.

Announcing the decision to close the page, a note on the site read: "The website code is completely outdated and cannot be run on modern servers anymore.

"The code ran into a dead corner and is not update-able anymore without months of enormous coding effort. And since ads went towards zero months ago and donation models failed years ago, I decided it's better to shut it down now than later.

"I know many of us have put weeks of effort into this database, but this is where we stand. Download or copy everything you need before June 29th!"

Launched in December 2006, the entries on MixesDB are entirely user-generated, and catalogue DJ mixes, radio shows and more, often alongside full or partial tracklists. The database will no longer be accessible when the site closes.

Earlier this week, Shuttered Amsterdam club De School opened up its archives, sharing more than 800 sets recorded at the club, which are now available to stream.
