Nyokabi Kariũki announces debut album, 'FEELING BODY', shares single: Listen
It's inspired by Kariũki's experience of living with long-COVID during 2021
Nyokabi Kariũki has shared details of her debut album, 'FEELING BODY'.
Spanning six tracks, the album takes inspiration from the Kenyan artist's experience of living with long-COVID for a large part of 2021, and her journey towards healing. It follows on from her 2022 debut EP, 'peace places: kenyan memories'.
"There is a lot to say about being sick, about being sick during a pandemic; about how the world treats you if you are sick for longer than 'just a cold'," Kariũki said in a statement. "But, I am ever in awe of our bodies, and how they keep going, despite and in spite of all the pain we go through in life. In a way, this album is an expression of love, and gratitude, to my own."
The album will be released via New York's cmntx records on 3rd March. You can listen to lead track 'Nazama' (meaning 'to sink' in Swahili) here.
