Pharrell Williams becomes Louis Vuitton’s first men’s creative director since Virgil Abloh

Pharrell Williams has been named as Louis Vuitton’s new Men's Creative Director.

Announcing the news on Valentine's Day, an official statement on the brand's website confirmed that Williams' first showcase would be on the runway at Paris fashion week in June. Williams first worked with Louis Vuitton in 2004, before collaborating again with the brand in 2008.

The role at the Parisian fashion house has been open since the death of influential fashion designer, DJ, and Off-White™ founder Virgil Abloh in November 2021, who held the position for three years. 

Speaking about the appointment, Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO said: “I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.”

Williams first worked with Louis Vuitton in 2004, creating the Millionaire sunglasses, which were subsequently used by Abloh in his 2018 debut runway for the brand.
