Significant Other is launching a new imprint, Pain Management, with the four-track EP, ‘When It Rains’. Have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.

On his first full length release since 2021’s ‘RESIDUUM’, the Brooklyn-raised, Berlin-based DJ and producer delivers a suite of twisted floorfillers, served up with lashings of sub weight, primal percussion and some seriously eerie sound design. Or as Significant Other calls it, “body music for restless minds.”

The record begins with the hazy lead single ‘RPG’, which possesses all the downtempo themes and angst-riddled sonics of his debut LP – which was composed against the backdrop of a fractured 2020 New York – but with an added layer of flickering warmth. Things get darker and more twisted on A2 ‘I Get Such Bad Headaches’, where sleazy low slung beats meet colossal club heft, before title track – ‘When It Rains (It Pours)’ – surfaces in an ominous fog of claustrophobic textures and distant, looping voices.

‘Bad Blood’ wraps the record on a more tender note, puncturing the tension with a blissed-out synth line, and bolstering Significant Other’s reputation as a master of atmospherics. Over the years his sound has been consistently influenced by his work behind the scenes in the Brooklyn rave scene, where he runs record label and NYC event series, Club Night Club.

Currently residing in Berlin, Significant Other is launching a new label and party series, Pain Management. Catch the first in-person event at London’s Venue MOT on 1st June, featuring DJ sets from Nkisi, OKO DJ, Jon K and Significant Other himself. Tickets are available here.

‘When It Rains’ is out 10th May via Pain Management. Pre-order the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
