Premiere: Type ‘Hummer’

RuptureLDN’s Planets EP series returns with label regulars and first-timers delivering deep-space junglism

Premiere: Type ‘Hummer’

RuptureLDN’s Planets EP series returns this month, with the ‘Jupiter’ and ‘Saturn’ releases both landing this Friday, 7th October. Listen to Type’s ‘Hummer’ below.

Returning after three years, the latest instalment of London label’s series follows 2019’s ‘Earth’ and ‘Mars’ EPs. Four-tracker, ‘Saturn’, features familiar heads and new arrivals to the imprint, with Theory, Seba and Response & Pliskin returning on top form and Sub debuting on the label with a bold, deep-space banger.

‘Jupiter’ comprises three tracks from new arrivals on the label, Voytek, Djinn and Type. Voytek offers up a cosmic breakbeat snarl in ‘Reach’; its deep bass throbs and eerie synths call out like a siren from a distant planet. Djinn’s ‘Tempest’ erupts like a jungle solar flare, while Type’s ‘Hummer’ is precision-tooled cut of breakbeat science; its subtle balance of drumfunk and muffled low-end melodies locks you into its flow and doesn’t let go until its final sharpened kick.

Pre-order ‘Jupiter’ here and ‘Saturn’ here.
