Rough Trade is opening a new premises in Liverpool. The Hanover Street address will be the chain's largest UK operation and sixth British site.  

A number of employment opportunities are being created as a result. Positions including General Manager, Assistant Manager, Bar and Events Manager, Bar and Events Supervisor, Retail Supervisor, Sales, Bar and Events Assistants now need to be filled. Once open, the 6,500 square foot premises will run a hospitality offering in association with local names Signature Brew and Dark Arts. Meanwhile, a busy schedule of live performances will include a partnership with Content, allowing external promoters to use a state-of-the-art space, with DICE handling ticketing. A partnership with Liverpool Sound City has also been confirmed for 2024.

The city has such a rich musical heritage as well as a vibrant scene right now which we hope to honour and represent in the best way we can," said Lawrence Montgomery, Managing Director at Rough Trade. "The scale, both size and ambition, of the store shows our commitment and investment to the city. We can’t wait to delight customers in the record store and venue in due course.”

This is the latest in a string of new vinyl shop openings across the Merseyside region, with both Dig and Matsuri setting up in 2023. The news also follows the announcement of Rough Trade stepping into the continental market for the very first time. The company's Berlin warehouse began operating late-2023, with a flagship store in the German capital due to welcome customers later this year.
