Soulwax have debuted a host of new material on their recent 2024 UK and European tour. Check out footage and photos below.

The Belgian outfit performed their first live shows in five years with a 13-date run that kicked off last month in Amsterdam and rounded up in Manchester this weekend. For each show, Soulwax were joined by a full band that included three drummers and a number of other musicians across synth and guitars, as they debuted a bevy of new and unreleased tracks.

According to NME, new material aired included ‘Hot Like Sahara’, a dark, brooding track which opened each set, as well as the post-punk-leaning ‘Idiots In Love’, the synthy rave-rock of ‘New Earth Time’, and the blissed-out ‘Polaris’. The Dewaele brothers also reportedly swapped the white outfits worn on previous tours for all black attire, which echoed the darker interpretations of their old material, as well as the feel of the new tracks.

The tour marked the duo’s official comeback after co-writing and co-producing Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul’s ‘Topical Dancer’ last year. Soulwax haven’t released an LP of their own since 2018’s ‘Essential’, inspired by BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mixes, however details of their sixth studio album and further tour dates are expected in the months ahead.

In the meantime, Soulwax are set to bring their famed Despacio soundsystem and club night – in collaboration with LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy – to the Wintercircus in Ghent, Belgium on 16th and 17th March.

Last October, Soulwax reissued their 2003 debut 2manydjs mix ‘As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt.2’ to mark its 20th anniversary. Revisit Ben Cardew’s Solid Gold feature on the influential, culture-shifting album.
