Stormzy has returned with a brand new single, ‘Toxic Trait’, featuring Fredo and produced by Santan (aka Dave). Listen to the track below.

The collaborative single, released on Thursday (22nd June) via 0207 Def Jam, is the London rapper’s first material since 2022’s ‘This Is What I Mean’. While the previous project drew on R&B, soul, and gospel influences, ‘Toxic Trait’ sees Stormzy join forces with fellow UK rapper Fredo for the first time to make their mark on the drill scene.

The release comes alongside a star-studded music video featuring daytime TV legend Alison Hammond, alongside cameos from Tottenham rapper, Wretch 32, Ivorian Doll, and Specs Gonzalez. Produced by British director Femi Ladi, the visual reflects the track’s political sentiments by looking beneath the shiny veneer of celebrity lifestyles.

The single comes just days after Stormzy shared that he’s currently working on new music following the release of his third album last November. After the lengthy hiatus, Stormzy popped back up on Instagram Monday (19th June) with a carousel post. Among the images was a snippet of an unreleased track, the first hint that fresh music was incoming.

“I think I’m just where I’m meant to be, and I’m who I’m meant to be and I’m doing what I’m meant to do,” he said in a recent interview with Rolling Stone UK. “I think the album reaffirmed my confidence, and it let me know that I should always stick to my guns, and I should always be brave.”
