Teplice shares mesmerising visual for debut EP, ‘Bright Future’

The Berlin-based Londoner learned her production skills in E.M.M.A’s producergirls workshops

Teplice has released her debut EP, ‘Bright Future’, via London artist E.M.M.A’s Pastel Prism label.

‘Bright Future’ is an intoxicating four-track offering of experimental pop, downtempo electronics and new age ambience. The Berlin-based Londoner, who started making music after attending E.M.M.A’s producergirls workshops in 2016, has said that, with the EP, she “wanted to think about time in relation to everything we fear, long for and expect.”

“Drawing on contemporary feelings of angst, stagnation and uncertainty,” she adds. “I wanted to capture a sense of time elapsing at a personal, social and historical level. In this sense, considering how individual lives intersect with historical moments, my grandma has been a massive inspiration. [...] It was important to me that she was represented [in the artwork]".

Having launched Pastel Prism in 2018, one of E.M.M.A’s main aims for the label is to support newcomers who come out of the beginners production workshops she has held alongside artists like Ikonika, Nightwave, P Jam and Dexplicit.

““I think a lot of people will relate to the storytelling of the words,” says E.M.M.A of the release. “It is truth in its purest form, supported by a spectrum of production which evokes the heart-centred intent of songs we’ve seen last a lifetime.”

To mark the release of ‘Bright Future’, Teplice has shared a mesmerising video for the title track, directed by Sophie Davies. Check it out below.
