Two techno photography exhibitions are set to open at Zurich’s Photobastei gallery in 2024.

Taking place from January 11th until March 31st, the Techno Worlds and The Pulse of Techno exhibitions will trace the evolution of techno in the Swiss city, taking in Zurich's iconic street parade among other cultural milestones, as well as zooming out on the genre's broader history of techno.

Over 20 international artists will be featured in the Techno Worlds exhibition in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut, including Deforest Brown Jr. & Abuquadim Haqq, Chicks on Speed, Carsten Nicolai and Ryōji Ikeda. The Pulse of Techno will feature the likes of Thomas Fehlmann & Max Loderbauer, Yello and many more.

The exhibitions will be accompanied by a programme of events featuring some of the genre's biggest names. Thomas Fehlmann will perform at the first party on 14th January while Underground Resistance will be playing with DJ Minx and DJ T-1000 on 20th January.

There will also be sets from Dirty Doering on 24th February, Miss Kittin and Deetron on 9th March and Ipek Ipekcioglu on 23rd March. Check out the full programme of events below and pick up tickets here.

In 2017, Switzerland's Federal Office of Culture anointed techno as part of its "intangible cultural heritage".

In other photography news, Berghain bouncer Sven Maquardt recently collaborated with Marcel Dettmann and Lars Murasch on a new audio-visual photography exhibition in Istanbul called NACHTBLENDE

In May, Marquardt also held a photographic exhibition called DISTURBING BEAUTY during New York Art Week at ArtsDistrict Brooklyn, in collaboration with underground event planners Teksupport.
