UK clubs to donate share of bar profits with War Child charity this weekend

Tonight, your drinks order could be going to a good cause.

For International Dance Day today, Friday, 29th April, a share of the profits made on the bar at 11 UK clubs throughout London, Brighton, Manchester and Bristol will be donated to War Child as part of its underground music fundraising platform The Right To Dance's new Dance For Good initiative.

Corsica Studios, Peckham Audio, Phonox, The Carpet Shop, The Jazz Cafe, TOLA, Village Underground, Joshua Brooks, NAM, Patterns and The Love Inn are all participating in the inaugural edition of Dance For Good.

"The central premise of TRTD is to celebrate dance music past and present, and how its values of community, identity, freedom and self-expression are shared by War Child and their work in creating safe spaces for children in conflict zones" says Sean O’Daly, War Child's music projects and events manager. "Through Dance For Good, we want to create an annual initiative for UK venues to rally behind these values, celebrating what dancing represents within club culture, while also raising funds for War Child to help fight for children’s right to community, freedom, identity, self-expression... and right to dance."

International Dance Day is a UNESCO-recognised celebration of dance, although it's been focused on classical and traditional formats. The Right To Dance's new initiative aims to honour club culture's place in dance.
