Beatport is launching new Hype Charts to support rising labels, the online music giant announced today.
Set to arrive early-June, the new additions will feature prominently on the platform's ten biggest genre pages, and are being introduced to help shine some light on up-and-coming imprints, releases and artists that may have previously been overshadowed by bigger names and labels.
"With so many incredible releases added to Beatport each week, there's a lot of competition for the attention of our DJ customers," said Terry Weerasinghe, Beatport's Chief Product Officer.
Pete Tong delivered a strong opening address at International Music Summit (IMS) Ibiza in memory of Avicii.
Talking about the pressures of international touring, health and wellbeing, IMS co-founder Tong commented on the news of Avicii’s tragic passing in Oman last month (April).
“We’ve lost one of the most talented and successful artists of his generation,” Tong said about Avicii on the opening day of IMS. “He was the first to make music influenced by his peers and then join them within 12 months.
DJ Mag and Burn Residency will join forces at this year’s International Music Summit in Ibiza later this month, to host a panel on how to become a successful touring DJ with international stars Nastia and Loco Dice.
The panel will be moderated by DJ Mag’s very own digital editor Charlotte Lucy Cijffers and will also feature Eóin Smyth (Game Over, Co-founder / Director) and Philipp Straub (Burn Residency, Head Mentor, Austria).
Burn Residency registration is now open as the long-standing DJ/producer competition once again seeks profile up-and-coming talent from around the globe.
Burn hopefuls are asked to upload a mix to enter, with shortlisted DJs given the chance to attend an “extensive talent program” and the opportunity to perform at iconic clubs during a five-week residency in Ibiza in May.
The electronic music industry has hit a new financial peak according to the International Music Summit (IMS). The annual IMS Business Report shows the global industry has grown 3% over the past year and is now valued at $7.4 billion.
International Music Summit (IMS) Ibiza has added another 20 speakers to their roster for this year's event, set to kick off from 24th through 26th May at the Hard Rock Hotel on the White Isle.
DJs including Nicole Moudaber, Loco Dice, and DVS1 will be joining the speakers list for 2017, alongside leaders from Ultra Records, Playstation, Big Beat Records and Warner Music.
Dixon will set off on a new tour next month, with stops in Italy, France, the UK and beyond.
The crux of the tour is Dixon playing from open to close at eight clubs around the world, with extended sets at Dude Club in Milan on 24th March, London's Ministry Of Sound on the 26th and Paris' YoYo on the 31st, before heading to the Big Apple to spin at Blkmarket Membership on 22nd April.
IMS Ibiza has revealed the line-up for the conference's annual Dalt Vila party, set to kick off on Friday 26th May on the Spanish party island.
The show will consist of back-to-back sets from house and techno's most influential, including Pete Tong b2b Nicole Moudaber, Dixon B2B Kenlou (Masters at Work), The Martinez Brothers B2B Kenlou, and Manu Gonzalez B2B Lollino (BURN Residency) — see the full line-up below.
