NAMM 2017: TOP FIVE TECH PRODUCTS NOT TO MISS

Korg, Akai Professional, Pioneer...

NAMM's annual music technology convention is about to kick off over the next few days, running 19th through 22nd January at the Anaheim Convention Center in LA.

Ahead of the hotly anticipated tradeshow, DJ Mag's tech editor has put together our top five products not to miss — get ready for new kit from Denon, Mixars, Akai Professional and more. Swoon!

DENON DJ: MEDIA PLAYER, MIXER, MUSIC MANAGEMNT SYSTEM AND TURNTABLE
Denon DJ has announced four new DJ products that will be the talk of the show for sure — the SC5000 Prime Media Player, X1800 Prime Mixer, Engine Prime Music management system and VL12 Prime Turntable. Showing Denon DJ’s intent to challenge Pioneer DJ’s Industry standard dominance in the world of DJ culture. Expect this to be a popular exhibition space during the course of the convention.

AKAI PROFESSIONAL: MPC RANGE FEATURING MPC X AND MPC LIVE
Denon DJ are not the only ones overhauling their ranges at this year's NAMM — Akai Pro are also updating their MPC range with the MPC X and the MPC Live. These two new pieces of hardware have already got people talking as to their versatility of use, be it in the studio or for live performance, and with their wealth of connection options, expect this to be a busy stand!

ADAM AUDIO: S RANGE
ADAM Audio announced the release of the S-Series monitor range, their new flagship range of nearfield, midfield and main studio monitors for DJ/producers. There are five models in the S Series range comprising of the S2V, S3H and S3V, alongside the largest of the range, the S5V and S5H. Pioneer DJ are set to announce something new in the speaker domain, but details have been kept a close secret, make sure to check back in the next few days as they announce what they have up their sleeves.

KORG: ARP ODYSSEY SYNTH
Korg look like they'll be attracting a lot of attention with a whole bevy of announcements. Releases of note include their limited edition White MS20 Synth, alongside the full sized version of Korg's reissued ARP Odyssey Synth, and the announcement of a desktop version of its Gadget App for iOS. There is a load more releases from Korg that cover a wider range of music application other than just electronic dance music, we're really looking forward to getting our hands on with the ARP Odyssey FS!

MIXAR: UNO MIXER
Italian company Mixars are releasing the competitively priced UNO during NAMM — a two-channel DJ mixer with the new Galileo Kallisto Crossfader, made in collaboration with Pro X Fade. More bespoke companies like ROLI and Teenage Engineering will also be showing off new products, with the latter recently tweeting about a new product launch at the show.
