COCOON RETURNS TO AMNESIA
Sven is going back to basics
A blank canvas; a clean slate or new leaf turned, whatever you call it. Fact is, Sven Väth is going back to basics with his 14th Cocoon series at Amnesia this year. Following 'Party Animals', 'Heroes', 'Into The Magic', the theme this year is, well, there is no theme.
Cleansing the palate, the focus is on, you guessed it, the music – pure and simple. Even that is largely what you'd expect. Sven and Villalobos as residents. Hawtin, Dice, Troxler, Dettmann, Liebing, Klock and Dubfire all playing. Luciano returns for the first time since 2009.
The techno box well and truly ticked, there's new involvement also from Innervisions boss Dixon and house minimalist Martinez, plus live sets most notably from KiNK and Âme, as well as Julien Bracht, Alejando Mosso and Makam. We've also learned Papa Sven does preach...
How magical was Into The Magic at Amnesia last year?
“Well, what should I say? We had to face some time changes regarding the line up, so the whole season was a challenge for us. But I'm happy we created some 'magic' moments on the Amnesia dancefloors, as well as during our endless afterhours.”
What do you have in store for us this year?
“To make it short, we will present a well-balanced and interesting line up including some new artists as well as our established guest artists. Furthermore, we present some 'all night long sets' by me and Ricardo, in general the line up of each night will not be 'overbooked'. We count on a maximum of three artists per floor on each night. The main room will get a new DJ booth and we will have a new deco-concept of course – taking it back to nature.”
We hear there is no theme this year, explain the thought behind it...
