Premiere: AK Sports ‘Been A Long Time’
AK Sports’ launches the Club Madhouse Records label with an EP that channels the same chaotic, punkish spirit as their WARP MODE parties
AK Sports celebrates the launch of their new Club Madhouse Records label this summer with a brand new EP, ‘Club Madhouse_001’, out on 1st August. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Been A Long Time’ below.
The Sydney-born, LA-based DJ and producer’s latest four-tracker follows October’s ‘Lost In The Sauce’ EP. Like that release, ‘Club Madhouse_001’ is a suite of raving techno textures and playful synthwork, calling on the DJ and producer's Aussie warehouse rave roots and future-facing grooves in equal measure.
The Rinse FM resident gets right down to business on ‘Been A Long Time’, the EP’s most urgent bid. Skipping on a seismic bassline and galloping techno beat, the cut comes preloaded with the same chaotic, punkish spirit as her WARP MODE warehouse parties with Bianca Oblivion and Star Eyes.
‘Wut U Waiting 4?’ taps into the more experimental vein of 2022’s ‘Displaced’ with wicked, mechanical squelches and a chopped-up Gwen Stefani sample, while layers of lush, rolling percussion on ‘High As I’ pay tribute to the golden era of trance.
Rounding out the bandcamp-only EP, ‘Let Me Go’ arrives in a flurry of lush pads and trancey samples to soothe the ears after the maelstrom – a fitting conclusion to a project which places AK Sports’ boundless energy and multi-genre mastery at the forefront of proceedings.
The EP marks the launch of the producer’s new imprint, Club Madhouse Records — a home for femme, non-binary, and ally artists to showcase eccentric club sounds.
