Lefto Early Bird will release a new single on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings label this week. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘I Sing To Find Peace Of Mind’ below.

Having established himself as one of the airwaves’ premier tastemakers – with shows on The Lot Radio, Kiosk Radio, and the late (great) Worldwide FM – Lefto Early Bird (FKA Lefto) continues to turn heads with his own productions in 2024.

On his first of the bunch, out 12th January, the Brussels-based artist serves up a slice of simmering, jazz-informed electronica. Bustling percussion and sweeping, downtempo chords ruminate alongside saxophone flourishes from friend, DJ and multi-instrumentalist, Simbad (aka SMBD), as the Belgian marries sofa-sinking ambience with transcendental grooves.

“This song reflects the pace of my life and how singing helps me to get through the stress and to evacuate the negativity, the tension, the ball in my stomach,” Lefto shared on the cut. “It eventually helps me to find peace of mind.”

The track, which marks his first solo release since 2020, feels right at home amongst the eclectic treasures of Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings catalogue, including recent releases from Kokoroko, STR4TA, and Nigerian alt-jazz fusionist, muva of Earth.

‘I Sing To Find Peace Of Mind’ drops 12th January via Brownswood Recordings. Have an exclusive first listen to the single below.
