Green Velvet, Kevin Saunderson & more!

Iconic music venue Magic Stick is set to relaunch as new nightclub POPULUX this week, as part of the rebirth of The Majestic complex in Detroit.

“The word POPULUX derives from the retro-futurism of design and arts, so we’ve branded the venue, POPULUX,” said Amir Daiza, entrepreneur and POPULUX investor.

“A rebirth of the word, much like the rebirth of Detroit, the rebirth of the Majestic Complex and the rebirth of the Detroit techno sound that has influenced the direction of music around the world.”

POPULUX is set to open this Saturday 18th April with a huge fiesta, featuring music by Derrick Carter back to back with DJ Sneak. Other acts billed to play over the coming months include Green Velvet, Kevin Saunderson, Toro y Moi, Popof, Viceroy and many more. The club has also launched a new imprint called Obsession Detroit, releasing their début track 'Your Love' last month, which was produced by founders Daiza and YOS (pictured above).
